First Impressions of play
My first impressions of the play were very positive as im very open to trying ew things and as im very interested in history and English so looking at this strong piece of literature intrigued me. I love the story and the idea that you can expect life to give you so much but (through hardship) learning to be happy and accepting where you come from and what you have is more important than anything.however my initial first impressions were good i did however, start to think about the challenges we may face as this play like the fact the ytext is difficult and the transformation from one character in scene one to the other . I thought that in order to show our individual distinct characters we would need physical theatre. I suppose my first impression of the objects being physicalized were negative as i do believe that the costume and set is key to bringing this play alive and especially that of the main character Estella, as in the 1800s women very much relied on what they wore to reflect their wealth and personality.
When we read through the script together, my initial reaction was that I love the idea that the chorus are weaved into all the scenes and thought about making the chorus into physical characters rather than virtual as the chorus are the thoughts and feelings of Pip.
